Riders at this year’s NAF Five Star Hartpury International Horse Trials may have the chance to grab themselves £50,000 after the August event was named as the final event in this season’s Tri-Star Grand Slam. Five International events, now including Hartpury, are included in the Shearwater Insurance Tri-Star Grand Slam and any rider that can win three of the CIC three-star events will be offered the ‘winner-takes-all’ prize! Belton International, Burnham Market International, Houghton International and Burgham International all return to the Grand Slam this year with Hartpury’s Horse Trials, sponsored again by NAF this year, closing out the Grand Slam which could lead to a very exciting final event! Equine Director at Hartpury, Phillip Cheetham, said: “We are thrilled to come on board and to be a part of such a unique and challenging competition. It is a fantastic prize for a rider that can prove their consistency throughout the season. “As the last competition of the Grand Slam series it could make our event an even more nail-biting moment in the eventing calendar.” This year’s competition will be the 15th horse trials run at Hartpury and will see the return of the Burghley Young Event Horse 4 and 5 year old qualifiers starting the event on Wednesday 9th August. The Recover CCI1*, Magic CCI2* and Superflex CIC3* will run from Thursday 10th – Sunday 13th August. Badminton course designer Eric Winter will be designing the courses around the 360 hectare Hartpury estate, assisted by Angus Smales whilst Dominic Moore completes the course building.
