ABOUT PAU
Pau has been the only International 3 Day Event in the South of France for the past 17 years and now in 2007 for the 1st time, Pau will join the restricted CCI 4 stars’ club which already include: Australia (Adelaide), Germany (Luhmühlen), Great Britain (Badminton and Burghley ) and the United States (Lexington, KY).
Pau is located at the foot of the Pyreneean mountains, the competition takes place only one kilometre from the international airport and motorway exits. on the Domaine de Sers, France’s second largest horse training centre which is run jointly be the Pyrennees Atlantiques Race Course Society and the town of Pau.
Rachel's advice:
"Le Terrasse in Lescar is 10 minutes from the event at Pau. This was a real food experience ask Pippa Cuckson. I shouldn’t really let anyone know about this place, it's where the locals go and you do have to book on Saturday night. 50 euros a night for a double room which are fairly basic but clean. Having paid top wack in Martinvast to stay in a Chateaux - I won't be doing that again; you’re hardly in the room and it’s all about eating out while you're in france. The Ibis is where most of the riders stay but there was plenty of grumbling about the rooms. There are plenty of hotels in the centre of Pau but it will take you 20 minutes to get to the event and lots of frustrating traffic lights!"
