Germany Rattle The Leader Board After Cross Country
Germany Rattle The Leader Board After Cross Country
Posted on Monday, 11 August 2008 09:05AM by
German rider Hinrich Romeike has moved into Gold spot after a superb cross country round and fellow team mate Ingrid Klimke is lying 2nd. This has propelled them into the lead for the team competition too ahead of the Australians. Clayton Fredericks will be kicking himself for not going a little faster as pathfinder as he's now in 3rd. His wife Lucinda took two long routes which was costly and has dropped her down to 11th place.
The Americans had a bad day at the office with Amy Tryon falling and Becky Holder picking up two stops as did Karen O'Connor with the inexperienced Mandiba which has dropped them out of a medal position. Only Gina Miles with Mckinlagh are holding their own in joint 5th place.
Britain gave excellent performances with pathfinder Daisy Dick just wishing she'd gone faster. William Fox Pitt was flat to the board and made up for his dressage with Parkmore Ed and is now insight of a medal after posting the second fastest round of the day. Tina Cooke looked very impressive and has moved into 10th place and finally Mary King rode the round of her life on Call Again Cavalier moving into joint 5th place. The Brits are now lying in the Bronze position.
New Zealand's Andrew Nicholson was on fire with Lord Killinghurst but ran out of steam at the second last and Andrew fell off. China's Alex Hua Tian put an end to an amazing Olympic Fairytale when he missed the horse at a simple fence, took a tumble and was out. Amy Tryon never looked quite in control of Poggio and fell when he got in too deep to a fence.
There is less than two showjumps between the top 10 so with two rounds of showjumping it's going to be a nailbiting finish.
