Rider Accepts £72,000 Payout

Polly Jackson is to receive £72,000 from the owners of event horse Bournston Highland Charm.polly_jackson_1.jpg

She claimed that they had promised that she could use the horse to help in her bid to be in the British team and that the horse would not be sold beforehand.

Owners Paul andChristine Kilmister had tried to sell the horse and find a new rider.

Miss Jackson launched legal action against the couple, who own Bournston Equestrian, in Nottingham.

She claimed she was owed a share of the horse because of an arrangement, in which she accrued a share in the horse for covering all running costs.

That verbal agreement formed the basis of the bitter legal dispute, which was launched in 2009.

Parties settled just before the start of a two day High Court trial in which the Kilmisters agreed to pay Miss Jackson £72,000, this included her legal costs.

Bournston Highland Charm (now known as Highland Charm) is a 15 year old Australian gelding that was bought from Rebbecca Lindwall in Australia in 2006 for AUD$132,000 (£89,279.00) but since the dispute in 2009 the horse has not been competed.
